Maria Gomes da Silva is Associate Professor at NOVA Medical School and senior consultant of Hematology at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology in Lisbon, where she is currently head of the Hematology Unit.
Her research interests are biological and clinical characterization of lymphoid malignancies and the development of new treatments for lymphomas. She has been coordinating investigator, principal investigator and co-investigator of more than 25 phase 2 and phase 3 clinical trials and is involved in collaborative epidemiological and translational projects focusing in lymphoma classification and prognostic.
She coordinates the Portuguese Lymphoma Group and is a member of the American Society of Hematology, European Haematology Association and other European academic cooperative groups for the study of lymphomas including the Lymphoma Study Association, the European Mantle Cell Network, the European Lymphoma Institute and EHA-Lymphoma Scientific Working Group.
She has authored and co-authored more than 70 scientific papers published in peer reviewed journals.
