Carlos Fernández de Larrea

Carlos Fernández de Larrea studied medicine in Caracas, obtaining the distinction Summa Cum Laude. He moved to Barcelona where he completed his training in Hematology at Hospital Clínic. His doctoral thesis was on complete remission in multiple myeloma, obtaining the Extraordinary Award of the University of Barcelona. He has spent training periods at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, the Centre for Systemic Amyloidosis of Pavia and the National Cancer Institute (NIH) in Bethesda, as well as Visiting Investigator at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York.   He is currently medical staff of the Department of Hematology at Hospital Clínic de Barcelona, junior researcher leader group in the Institut d'Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), member of the Amyloidosis and Myeloma Unit, and Associate Professor of Medicine in the University of Barcelona.
