Georg Hess, MD, is Associate Professor in the Hematology Department at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz, Germany, where he studied medicine, receiving his qualification in 1994. He obtained board certification in internal medicine in 2001, and certification for medical oncology and hematology in 2002. Professor Hess is actively involved in the European Hematology Association, the German Society of Hematology and Oncology, and the German Professional Association of Internal Medicine. He is a reviewer for numerous journals, including The Lancet, Lancet Oncology, Leukemia, British Journal of Haematology, and Annals of Hematology. He heads the clinical trial unit in his department, and the interdisciplinary unit of the Comprehensive Cancer Center. Professor Hess is co-founder of the Early Trials Network, a cooperation for early clinical trials in the field of lymphoma. He has published several book chapters and authored many papers that have been published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
